Marcus Stenson - Preaching Minister

Marcus joined the ministry team as the Preaching Minister at Leander in the spring of 2023. He has a passion for the kingdom, and helping people to discover and fulfill the purpose God has created them for. He is a founding member of “Be1Make1”, an organization dedicated to helping churches become communities of disciples who make disciples. He is also a co-founder of “Christians For Kenya”, a non-profit serving to equip and empower disciples in Kenya to spread the gospel.

Before joining the church at Leander, he served as part of the ministry staff at the McDermott Road Church of Christ in Plano, Texas. Prior to that, Marcus spent time partnered with congregations in Martinsburg, Harrisville, and Parkersburg, WV. He is a graduate of Ohio Valley University (2010), and the West Virginia School of Preaching (2015).

Marcus and his wife Maggie reside in nearby Georgetown. Maggie is a dietitian who specializes in the field of eating disorders with a passion for seeing people live vibrant lives. Marcus shares that passion as owner of “UTC Training” where he is a DNA-Based health and wellness coach. They are avid ‘foodies’ who NEVER turn down a good steak or Texas BBQ. They love to travel, get after it in the gym, and enjoy watching movies and playing games together.

Whit Pennock - Family Minister

God called me to ministry at the Leander Church of Christ in June of 1983 and I began full time with the church in August of 1983. I served as the youth minister for 16 years and I am presently serving as the family minister. I am also serving the church as one of it’s seven shepherds. I received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Debby, my wife, and I have been married 12 years and we have many wonderful adventures together in life and ministry. We partner together as husband and wife to reach out to families and connect them with the body of Christ in Leander. We are blessed to have 4 children and 10 grandchildren whom we love and cherish.

God, my family, and the Church at Leander have been a source of strength through my years of ministry in Leander. My ministry philosophy can be summed up in this statement…”If God can use me in someone’s life each day for His purpose and glory, then it has been a great day!”

Alan Gower - Youth Minister

I began serving the Leander Church of Christ as the Youth Minister in March of 2012. Prior to coming to Leander, I served as the Youth Minister at the Elliott Street Church of Christ in Breckenridge, TX as I continued my studies at Abilene Christian University. I graduated from ACU in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth and Family Ministry and then again in 2011 with the Master of Divinity degree. I married my wife, Tracy Gower in her home town of Fort Collins, CO in May of 2008 and we have two children, Caleb and Shelby.

I firmly believe youth ministry should be relational as we seek to encourage and support one another as we live out our faith on a daily basis.

Darrell Hutson - Education Minister

Darrell Hutson began working with the Leander Church of Christ in the fall of 2012.    He is married to Cynthia and they have two daughters, Haley and Hope, and a son, Hayden.  Cynthia teaches at Brentwood Christian School.  Before coming on staff as the Education Minister, Darrell taught at Brentwood Christians School.  Darrell grew up in East Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee, with a degree in Engineering.  He enjoys spending time with his family, listening to gospel music, and reading books on history.
